In 2002, songwriter Bert Ostyn and violin player Renaud Ghilbert makes plans to start an acoustic swingband together. Already in a band with Jan Duthoy called "Tao Tse Tse" at the time, Bert asks Jan to join in. Renaud invites Sergej Van Bouwel and it is at his house that they record a demo called "Sweet Oblivion" by the 'Absynthe Minded Quartet'.
With this quartet they play almost every bar in the country and do their first tour of many; in Norway with "The Real Ones" and "Tippy Agogo". After that musical journey the band meets drummer Jakob Nachtergaele, who makes his first appearance on the recording of the "History Makes Science Fiction EP" in 2003. From that moment the band instrumentarium expands with electric guitars, organs and all that.
The debut album "Acquired Taste" (2004) receives great acclaim from the public and critics. Absynthe Minded is becoming what it always intended to be; a brand new sound for the people. Absynthe Minded is here to stay!
New Day (2005), the follow-up to Acquired Taste was produced by legendary producer Jean-Marie Aerts (TC Matic, Arno, Urban Dance Squad). With the succes of hit-single "My Heroics, Part One" Absynthe Minded starts touring like madmen (they also support belgian heroes dEUS on their European tour) and don't hesitate to record their third album "There is Nothing" (2007) In France, "Abeille Musique" releases a compilation of previous Absynthe Minded songs on a disk called "Introducing" (2008).
