Wallis Bird will be performing her first London full band show in over 18 months on Thursday 5th April 2012 at Dingwalls in support to her third album - simply entitled "Wallis Bird". The new album is due to be released in March 2012.
Irish artist Wallis Bird is more than your average singer-songwriter. An impassioned performer, her energy on stage has earned her comparisons with Ani diFranco, as well as landing her support tours with artists as diverse as the legendary Billy Bragg, Ivor Novello winner Gabrielle, chart toppers The Feeling and the worldwide phenomenon duo Rodrigo y Gabriela.
Having played hundreds of headlining shows around Europe, on stage Wallis is a 5 ft 2 bundle of white heat. Throwing herself around the stage with willful abandon, she breaks strings, shreds her fingers from the sheer force of playing, urges the crowd into collective sing-a-longs and throws her entire soul into each performance with often breath-taking results.
Both her live shows and album releases have garnered her rave reviews from all quarters, with 4* reviews being given by national publications including The Guardian, Daily Express and the Sun, who called her ‘a stunning female singer-songwriter to take note of…a future star’. Her reputation as an intense and passionate performer also led to her winning two prestigious Irish Meteor Awards, most recently Best Female Artist.
