Nina Nesbitt (Sold Out)

Nina Nesbitt’s burning ambition has always been to be an acclaimed singer and thanks to a certain flame-haired star her dreams are starting to come true.

The half Scottish /half Swedish teenager’s big break came earlier this year when she attended a low-key Ed Sheeran show in Edinburgh. Before the gig a friend told Ed that Nina had uploaded a cover of his colossal hit ‘The A Team’ onto YouTube so, while setting up, Ed asked Nina to perform one of her own songs for him.

Suitably impressed, Ed contacted Nina and personally asked her to support him at his sold-out UK shows at Glasgow ABC and London’s Shepherd’s Bush Empire last month. Better still, Nina even got to come on during Ed’s set to perform a rousing duet of the Leonard Cohen classic ‘Hallelujah’ (later covered by Jeff Buckley and Alexandra Burke).

One look at Nina’s videos on YouTube and it’s pretty easy to see what all the fuss is about. Her stripped-back, emotionally raw covers of Mumford & Sons’ ‘Little Lion Man’, Bill Whithers’ ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ and Example’s ‘Stay Awake’ are all truly sublime. In fact, following Ed’s lead, a similarly awestruck Example recently invited Nina over Twitter to support him at a trio of shows this December.

Much more that just a covers’ artist, however, Nina has recently unveiled her very own composition ‘Glue’. Upbeat, incredibly catchy and a perfect showcase for Nina’s immense talents, it serves as a nice taster for the musical magic yet to come.
